Project Update: February 2022

3 minute read

Hi from the BGL Team! 👋

We hope you’ve all had a great start in 2022 because we certainly have.

We’ve got lots of new projects lined up this year and will introduce them soon.

For now, we wanted to update you on our current projects.

Manchester Golf Club

Development of the new 350-yard driving range at MGC is now entering its final phases.

The project looked to utilise a sustainable soil importation scheme. This provided the material needed for the driving range’s new topography.

Importation is nearly completed as we enter the final phases. Our team of engineers will look to shape the material to the agreed design.

A short game area is also being developed adjacent to the driving range.

Later in the year, a finishing team will be deployed to create golf features. This will include target greens, tee boxes, and bunkers to bring the new practice areas to life.

As part of the development, we’ve also addressed the site infrastructure issues. The entrance off Rochdale Road has been widened making access easier. A double-lane road has also been implemented to ensure traffic can safely enter and leave with limited disruption.

Headingley Golf Club

Phase 1 – Short Game Area

We are currently creating a new short game area located near the clubhouse. This gives access to a practice facility before players head out onto the course.

Material importation for the short game area is now completed. The area has been shaped and capped until spring. The Headingley team will then begin to create the final shape using GPS-guided machinery before a managed grow-in.

Phase 2 – Long Game Area

Redevelopment of the new long game practice area is now underway.

Early site preparation work is now completed. This included a topsoil strip, road entrance widening, and concrete running surface for machinery and the onsite welfare units.

A soil importation scheme is now being managed on-site. All materials will be handled and shaped by our in-house team before the grow-in is completed.

Future Projects

With a number of exciting projects lined up we’ve been out assessing golf courses and practice facilities around the UK. We love getting out on the course and creating 3D models that we can discuss with club committees and members.

Below is as recent 3D model that we created for an upcoming practice facility improvement project. Keep your eyes peeled for update on this one!

2022 is going to be a really exciting year at Booth Golf & Leisure, our model offers golf clubs the opportunity to develop and improve their golf course, creating a real tangible long-term legacy benefitting members for many years. If you're looking to redevelop your golf or leisure facility give one of the team a shout to see what we can do for you.
