We recently completed the short-game academy at Headingley Golf Club, which was opened by European Tour player Marcus Armitage to fantastic reviews.
Collaborating closely with Headingley Golf Club’s committee and esteemed golf course architect Ken Moodie, we transformed their vision into reality.
The project’s construction phase commenced in 2021, and it embraced an eco-friendly soil recycling initiative, enabling us to establish the foundational layers for the practice area. This innovative approach facilitated the even grading of the surrounding terrain, resulting in the creation of a significantly expanded facility. As a result, club members now have the exciting opportunity to practice shots spanning up to 100 yards, targeting an alluring green that graces the far end of the outfield. Additionally, we introduced a spacious 50-meter chipping green, offering an array of chip shots. These can be enjoyed from the specially designed artificial grass teeing area or from dedicated natural grass tees.
Rob Bristow, Head of Booth Golf & Leisure, commented: “We are super proud of how the project has developed over the past couple of years, the finished product is truly fantastic and without doubt the best short game practice facility in Yorkshire! it is now there for all Headingley Golf Club member to use for years to come”
“The whole team working collaboratively on this project, has been crucial in delivering this outcome, and we offer our thanks to everyone involved. The experience of working in unison with Ken Moodie, the Headingley Golf Club committee, Andy Stanger and this greenkeeping team, Martin Crompton, and his finishing team has been amazing, and they all deserve a special mention”.
