The project addressed long-standing challenges, particular the poor drainage issues on the existing practice ground, transforming the area into a modern, state-of-the-art golf facility.
The newly developed range now spans 300-yards and incorporates the latest TrackMan technology, elevating the practice sessions for golfers of all levels. Alongside this, we established a dedicated short game area and improved site infrastructure. All designed to improve the overall experience for club members and visitors alike.

Working closely with Manchester Golf Club and Gaunt Golf Design, we turned the vision for this facility into reality. The redesign of the driving range was focused on addressing the longstanding drainage concerns, incorporating a gradual gradient to improve ball visibility and retrieval.
The short game area was also carefully design, with a large practice green and two practice bunkers.
Additionally, the site’s infrastructure was upgraded to improve access and provide additional car parking for the new practice areas.
To bring this ambitious project to life, we navigated a detailed planning process with Rochdale Council. Our team successfully obtained all the necessary permissions by submitting comprehensive master plans that outlined improvements to the driving range, parking facilities, the short-game area, and overall site accessibility.
A key part of the project’s success was our commitment to sustainability. We secured environmental permissions for the responsible importation of local construction soils, ensuring compliance with a CL:AIRE materials management plan.

In addition to shaping the landscape, we prioritised the installation of an advanced drainage system to effectively address previous challenges. This new system ensures optimal water management across the driving range and practice areas, enhancing playability and maintaining the facility in peak condition. The construction team expertly shaped the landscape, aligning the topography with the design specifications to create a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics.
From the perfectly contoured driving range to the finely crafted short-game areas, each feature was constructed with the goal of enhancing both performance and visual appeal.
