They wanted to increase their offering to the local community and create interesting ways for horses to exercise on the fields surrounding the existing stable paddocks.

Working directly with the owners and yard manager we were tasked with bringing their vision for the hack to life. A large field owned by Hill Top Farm was identified as an area to develop as it provided ample space for riders to trek around.
Booth Golf & Leisure designed a ‘farm ride’, compromising of earth undulations and mini water complexes with up/down access slopes that provided a new riding experience. Step jumps were added to a number of locations across the field to allow experienced riders to practice control with their horse. Paths were also developed around the hack making the direction of the cross-country course simple for riders to follow. Jumps and tabletops were also added to areas of the field to provide different challenges for horses and riders.
As part of the development, we also looked to incorporate effective field drainage and suspended solids management to improve surface water management across the Hack. This program ensured that the field quality was improved without compromising the economics of the area and ensuring ecological diversity.
A grow-in is currently being managed as is expected to be completed in summer 2022 to complete the final aesthetic of the hack. The aim was to create a variety of new features that seamlessly incorporated into the existing landscape.
